The National Association of State Public Health Veterinarians (NASPHV)
has updated their “Compendium of Zoonotic Disease Infection Prevention and
Control in Veterinary Personnel”. This compendium can be accessed on the NASPHV
website here and offers technical guidance to
minimize transmission of zoonotic pathogens from animal patients to veterinary
personnel. NJDOH encourages veterinarians to review this updated compendium.
NJDOH would also like to remind veterinarians that information
on zoonotic disease reporting requirements in domestic companion
animals, how to report, and reporting timeframes is available at https://www.nj.gov/health/cd/reporting/. Click on “Domestic Companion
Animal Reporting” for
specific guidance, including a printable list of reportable conditions in
domestic companion animals.
