This advisory is being sent to provide information on a recent increase in invasive Group A Streptococcal (iGAS) cases reported in New Jersey. It highlights key information for clinicians and emphasizes the importance of promptly reporting cases especially those occurring in long-term care facilities and any clusters of cases of iGAS. It contains links to resources for long-term care facilities, and recommendations for laboratory management of iGAS isolates to facilitate potential epidemiologic investigations.
