Just a reminder that the Industry and Occupation Section in
CDRSS is live for all disease conditions (including emerging diseases) and we
encourage users to enter workplace information during case follow-up. Please
review the updated quick-reference guide (attached) for additional details on
the Industry and Occupation Section and also suggestions on how to ask about industry and occupation.
As a part of this effort, a short training video was developed for staff conducting case
follow-up to help improve their collection of industry and occupation data, and is available here: https://youtu.be/CFYDXaBbBm4.
This is a part of a national effort to expand currently
available data sources. The COVID-19 pandemic demonstrated that surveillance
systems of emergent diseases, and other disease conditions, need to include
occupation and industry information. Collecting this information will allow for
improving worker protection, prioritizing public health strategies, and
mitigating transmission in the workplace.
